distance = 400km

let distance be x

so

12% of x = 48

or

12/100 of x = 48

this is a linear equation

x = (48 x 100)/12

x = 4800/12

x = 400

Answer:

If 48 km per hour is the traveling speed of Adam and in one hour, he covers 12 percent of the total distance, then he has to travel 400 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Speed of Adam = 48 km per hour

That is, he travels a distance of 48 km in 1 hour

Given,

In an hour he covers 12% of the total distance.

That is, 48 km is 12% of the total distance

Let us take X as the distance he has to travel

That is,

48 = X*\frac{12}{100} \\\\X =\frac{48*100}{12} \\\\X= 4*100\\\\=400

So the total distance he has to travel is 400 km
