1) The earthworm lives in burrows inside the soil to protect itself from enemies and unfavourable conditions of the environment . These burrows are made partly by force and partly by eating the soil coming in its way .
2) It mainly feeds on the soil rich in organic matter or humus .
3) Respiration is mainly by skin .

2) The body of the individuals is divided into segments ( Externally and internally both ) . These segments are called metameres .
