We have to add the given expression  1\frac{1}{3}+(-\frac{5}{6})

=  \frac{4}{3}+(-\frac{5}{6})

=  \frac{4}{3}-\frac{5}{6}

L.C.M. of 3 and 6 is 6.

Therefore,

=  \frac{(8-5)}{6}

=  \frac{3}{6}

=  \frac{1}{2}

Refer to the attached image for the location of   \frac{1}{2} on the number line.

We can clearly observe that  \frac{1}{2} = 0.5 is exactly between 0 and 1, where 1 is expressed as  \frac{2}{2} .
