TO ADD

 \displaystyle \sf{ \bigg( -  \frac{17}{15}  \bigg) +\bigg(  -  \frac{1}{15} \bigg) }

EVALUATION

 \displaystyle \sf{ \bigg( -  \frac{17}{15}  \bigg) +\bigg(  -  \frac{1}{15} \bigg) }

 \displaystyle \sf{ = -  \frac{17}{15}  -  \frac{1}{15} }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{ - 17 - 1}{15}  }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{ - 18}{15}  }

What are Like and Unlike fractions:

  • The fraction with the same denominator is called Like Fractions.

  • The fraction with different denominators is called, Unlike fractions.

  • We can see both the denominators are the same in the given question, so we can directly add the numerators.

Addition of (-17/15) + (-1/15)

 =  > (\dfrac{ - 17}{15}) +  (\dfrac{ - 1}{15} )

 =  >  \dfrac{ - 17 + ( - 1)}{15}
