First you have to change it into improper fraction

If don’t know how see this
2 5/12
Multiply 12 and 2 that is 24.now add 24 with the numerator that is 5. 24+5 is 29.
So when we change it into improper fraction it becomes 29/12 (the denominator doesn’t change when you change it into improper fraction)

Take the LCM of the denominators that is 12 and 6

With help of lcm you can change both the denominators by making it the same (like fraction) . So it will be easy for you add then

The lcm here is 12
Ok so change the first fractions denominator is 12 so there is no need to change it. If you want you can multiply it with on the denominator if you multiply in the denominator you have to multiply in the numerator too

When we 1 5/6 to improper fraction we will get 11/6 here the denominator is not 12 so change it into 12 by multiplying

6 x ? Is 12. 6x2 is 12 so put x 2 in the denominator

We are multiplying the denominator by 2 so multiply the numerator also by 2
That is 11x2 is 22

Now add the numerators and put the denominator as 12
