(-7/12 +5/16)= (-7×4 + 5×3)/48

(-28 +15)/48 = 13/48

13/48 + (-7/8)

13/48 - 7/8

(1×13) - (6 ×7)/ 48

13- 42/ 48

-29/48

\left(\dfrac{-7}{12}\right)+\dfrac{5}{16} + \left(\dfrac{-7}{8}\right) = -1

Given : (-7/12) + (5/16) + (-7/8)

\left(\dfrac{-7}{12}\right)+\dfrac{5}{16} + \left(\dfrac{-7}{8}\right)

To Find :  Evaluate

Solution:

+ (-) = -

-( + ) = -

+ ( + ) = +

(-)(-) = +

\left(\dfrac{-7}{12}\right)+\dfrac{5}{16} + \left(\dfrac{-7}{8}\right)

= -\dfrac{7}{12}\right+\dfrac{5}{16} - \dfrac{7}{8}\right

Taking LCM of denominators = 48

LCM  - Least common multiplier of given numbers is the least number which is perfectly divisible by given numbers.

LCM = product of each factor  of highest power

= -\dfrac{21}{48}\right+\dfrac{15}{48} - \dfrac{42}{48}\right

= -\dfrac{21}{48}\right - \dfrac{27}{48}\right

= -\dfrac{48}{48}

= - 1

Hence \left(\dfrac{-7}{12}\right)+\dfrac{5}{16} + \left(\dfrac{-7}{8}\right) = -1
