A prefix is a word or a group of letters which is added before a word to make a meaningful word. For example : the prefix 'un' is added to the word 'happy' to make the word 'unhappy'.

There are six types of prefixes which are as follows:-

1) Prefixes of negation

2) Prefixes of Attitude

3) Prefixes of Number

4) Prefixes emphasizing degree

5) Additive or Replacive Prefixes

6) Prefixes of Location or Direction

The following types of prefixes are added to the following words:-

1) Like - The prefix 'dis' is added to 'like' to make the word 'dislike' (Prefix of negation).

2) Fair - The prefix 'un' is added to 'fair' to make the word 'unfair' (Prefix of negation).

3) Figure - The prefix 'dis' is added to 'figure' to make the word 'disfigure' (Prefix of negation).

4) Honest - The prefix 'honest' is added to 'honest' to make the word 'dishonest' (Prefix of negation).

5) Pure - The prefix 'im' is added to 'pure' to make the word 'impure' (Prefix of negation).

6) able - The prefix 'dis' is added to 'able' to make the word 'disable' (prefix of negation).

7) Own - The prefix 'dis' is added to 'own' to make the word 'disown' (Prefix of negation).
