Adding yeast while baking ,makes the cake fluffy . Give reason

Yeast is added to the mixture for making cake,etc.It is added to make the cake spongy.We know that when yeast divide it produces CO₂ gas which makes bubbles in the mixture.When the cake harden these holes still remain there.Thus,making the cake fluffy and spongy.
