Addition: equal numbers 1/8 + 5/8 = it would be 6/8 as you just add 1 and 5 together If there are not equal for example 3/4 2/9 you have to multiply them until they both reach the same number 4 x 9 and 9 x 4 as they both make 36 then you multiple the top numbers by the multiple 9 x 3 and 2 x 4 so that would make 27/36 + 8/36 then you add 27 + 8 which is 35 so the answer is 35/36

Subtraction: Equal: 8/8 - 4/8 which would be 8 - 4 = 4 so it would be 4/8 or 1/2

The same for nonequal multiple the bottom numbers until they match but instead of adding the top numbers subtract them after multiplyng them.
