Hello buddy,
THE ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION OF RATIONAL NUMBERS IS DONE USING SAME PROCESS BUT THE DENOMINATOR SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF WHILE DOING SO. LET ME GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE OF ADDITION WHEN DENOMINATOR ON BOTH THE SIDE IS SAME
Add 3/7 and 56/7

Solution:

3/7 + 56/7

= (3 + 56)/7

= 59/7, [Since, 3 + 56 = 5 9]

Therefore, 3/7 + 56/7 = 59/7
IN CASE DENOMINATORS ARE UNEQUAL.... For example:

(i) Add 5/6 and 7/9

Solution:

Clearly, denominators of the given numerators are positive.

The LCM of the denominators 6 and 18 is 18.

Now, we express 5/6 and 7/9 into forms in which both of them have the same denominator 18.

We have,

5/6 = 5 × 3/6 × 3 = 15/18

and

7/9 = 7 × 2/9 × 2 = 14/18

Therefore, 5/6 + 7/9

            = 15/18 + 14/18

            = (15 + 14)/18

            = 29/18 Answer..
Hope it helps you buddy.
