Explanation:

Addition of five consecutive numbers is 270. Assume that the five consecutive numbers are x, (x + 1), (x + 2), (x + 3) and (x + 4).

As per given condition,

→ x + x + 1 + x + 2 + x + 3 + x + 4 = 270

→ 5x + 10 = 270

→ 5x = 270 - 10

→ 5x = 260

x = 52

Therefore, the numbers are:

  • x = 52 (First number)
  • x + 1 = 52 + 1 = 53 (Second number)
  • x + 2 = 52 + 2 = 54 (Third number)
  • x + 3 = 52 + 3 = 55 (Fourth number)
  • x + 4 = 52 + 4 = 56 (Fifth number)

Also said that we have to find the sum of the 1st and 2nd number.

Assume that the sum of first and second number is y.

→ First number + Second number = y

→ 52 + 53 = y

→ 105 = y

Hence, the sum of first and second consecutive number is 105.
