As we all know,

(- ) (-) = ( +)

(-) (+) = (-)

(+) (+) = (+)

(+) ( -) = (-)

Now as in case of numbers :

( -2) + ( -3) = (-5)

(-2) + 3 = 1 (sign of greater no. is used)

2 + 3 = 5

2 + (-3) = -1

In multiplication,

(-2) . (-3) = 6

(-2 ) . (3) = -6

2 . (-3) = (-6)

2 . 3 = 6
