Answer:

Area of room=length * breadth

=3*4

=12

Area of one tile =0.5*0.5

=0.25

number of tiles is given by the formula,

number=area of room/area of one tile

So,

Number=

0.25

12

=48

Thus 48 tiles will be used to cover an entire floor

Given

Rectangular Floor

  • lenght = 5 m
  • breath= 4 m

Square Tile

  • side = 50 cm= 0.5 m

Procedure

~Here the concept of the area of the polygon is used. First, we will find the area of floor by lenght × breath. Then calculate the area of the single square tile by formula side× side. Divide the area of the rectangular floor by the area of the single square tile, this will give us the number of tiles required to cover the floor.

Let's do it!

To find

The number of tiles required to cover the floor

Solution

\sf{\red{Area\: of\: the\: rectangle = \:lenght\:×\:breath}}

\sf{Area\: of\: the\: rectangular \:floor = 4×5}

\sf{Area \:of\: the \:rectangular\: floor = 20\: cm^{2}}

Now,

\sf{\green{Area\: of \:square = side×side}}

\sf{Area\: of\: square\:tile= 0.5×0.5}

\sf{Area\: of\: square\:tile= 0.25 cm^{2}}

\sf{Number\: of\: tiles\: required = \dfrac{20}{0.25}}

\sf{Number\: of\: tiles\: required =\pink{ 80}}

Hence 80 tiles are required to cover the rectangular floor.
