using colourful beads which she keeps in a potli. Today she prepared 19 necklaces but

beads and found that there were 8 red, 6 green and 14 blue beads remaining in her
potli. Her little daughter Dulari requested for a bead. Aditi decides to take out one bead
from her potli for Dulari.

1) Find the probability that she draws a green bead.

2) Find the probability that the bead drawn by her is not green.

3) Find the probability that she draws either a green or a blue bead.

Answer: 3/14 is the probability of getting a green bead.

              11/14 is the probability of getting a bead that is not green

              5/7 is the probability of getting a bead that she draws a green

or a blue bead

              1/2 is the probability of getting a bead that is neither red nor green

Given: It is given that she has 8 red, 6 green and 14 blue beads in her potli.

To Find: We need to find the probability that

  1. she draws a bead that is green
  2. she draws a bead that is not green
  3. she draws a bead that is either green or blue
  4. she draws a bead that is neither red nor green in color

Step-by-Step Explanation: We will calculate the probability using the following formula:

P = \frac{No. \ of \ favorable \ outcomes}{Total \ possible \ outcomes}

Step 1: Probability of getting a green bead is:

P = \frac{6}{28} = \frac{3}{14}

Step 2: Probability of getting a bead that is not green

P = \frac{22}{28} = \frac{11}{14}

Step 3: Probability of getting a bead that is either green or blue

P = \frac{20}{28} = \frac{5}{7}

Step 4: Probability of getting a bead that is neither red nor green

P = \frac{14}{28} = \frac{1}{2}
