A cube has 6 faces . He only excludes the base ( bottom face . ) .The area of each face = s^2 where s is edge length . So total area Aditya must cover = 5 * ( 1.5 ) ^2 square metres . 1m = 100 cm => 1cm = 0.01m => 25cm = 0.25m = side length of each tile . So total no. of tiles required = ( total area to be covered ) / ( area of each tile ) = ( 5 * ( 1.5 ) ^ 2 ) / ( 0.25 ) ^2 Cost of a dozen ( 12 ) tiles = 480 => cost of each = 480/12 = 40 Now total cost = ( Total no. of tiles ) * ( cost of each tile ) = ( 5 * ( 1.5 ) ^ 2 ) * 40 / ( 0.25 ) ^2 = ( 5 * 2.25 * 40 ) / ( 0.0625 ) Multiply 10000 to numerator and denominator to make it easier & clearer = ( 5 * 225 * 4000) / 625 = 225 * 400/25 = 45*400/5 = 9*400 = ₹3600

Aditya has built a cubical water tank with lid for his house with each outer edge 1.5m long . he gets the outer surface of the tank excluding the base covered with square tiles of 25cm . find how much would he spend for tiles if the cost of tiles is RS480 per dozen .

Solution:。.。:∞♡*♥

Given;゚+*:;;:*♥*:;;:*+゚

  • edge = 1.5m long

= 150 cm

  • Side of square tiles = 25 cm

So, ♩✧♪●♩○♬☆

T. S. A. for 5 faces = (5a²) sq. units

= 5 × side × side

= (5 × 150 × 150) cm²

Area of Square tiles = () sq. units

= Side × Side

= (25 × 25) cm²

No. of tiles = T. S. A. / Area of tiles

= 5 × 150 × 150 / 25 × 25

= 180 tiles

Then, .・゜-: ✧ :-

Cost of tiles, ( 1 dozen = 12 )

12 tiles = ₹480

1 tiles = 480 / 12

= ₹40

180 tiles = 40 × 180

= ₹7200

Analysis:»»——⍟——««

we know that if the lid of water tank means upper part of cuboid, if the upper part of cuboid has removed for conical surface. so, there will be 5 faces of cuboid. so, we can find the area of cuboid with 5 edges. then we can find how many tiles have used to cover the sides of cuboid partially. and there have given the cost of 12 tiles. so, we can find the cost of required tiles ,easily. Even, If you haven't understand so, you can see the figure which I have given as answer.

Used Formula:»»————>

  • T. S. A. = Total Surface Area
  • T. S. A of 5 faces = 5a²

= 5 × side × side

  • Area of Square = a²

= side × side

I hope it's helpful for you✚✚✚
