Given:

(i) Aditya incure a loss of rupees 12 by selling a cricket Ball.

(ii) He makes a profit of rupees 7 by selling a tennis ball.

To find:

(i) His net profit or loss by 12 selling cricket Ball and 10 tennis ball

Solution:

Let the Cost Price of a cricket ball be Rs (x+12).

Since, he incurs a loss of Rs 12,

SP of 1 cricket ball = Rs (x+12)-12 = Rs x.

Let the Cost Price of a tennis ball be Rs y.

Since, he incurs a profit of Rs 7,

SP of 1 cricket ball = Rs (y+7) = Rs (y+7)

He purchases 12 Cricket Balls.

So, SP of 12 cricket balls

= Rs 12x

Again, he purchases 10 tennis balls.

So, SP of 10 tennis balls,

= 10 (y+7)

= Rs (10y + 70)

So, total SP = Rs (12x + 10y + 70)

Also, CP of 12 cricket balls = 12 (x+12)

Rs (12x + 144)

And, CP of 10 tennis balls = 10y

Total CP = Rs (12x + 10y + 144)

Since, CP>SP, he incurs a loss.

Loss value = CP-SP

= Rs (12x + 10y + 144 - 12x - 10y - 70)

= Rs 74

He incurs a loss of Rs 74.

Given :

The Loss amount after selling a cricket ball = Rs 12

The Profit amount after selling a tennis ball = Rs 7

Number of cricket ball sold = 12

Number of tennis ball sold = 10

To Find :

The net profit and loss

Solution :

∵ Loss amount after selling 1 cricket ball = Rs 12

∴  Loss amount after selling 12 cricket ball = Rs 12 × 12

                                                                      = Rs 144

Similarly

∵ Profit amount after selling 1 tennis ball = Rs 7

∴  Profit amount after selling 10 tennis ball = Rs 7 × 10

                                                                      = Rs 70

Since, Loss amount is more than profit amount, So there is net loss in selling balls

So,

Net Loss Amount =  Loss amount after selling 12 cricket ball - Profit amount after selling 10 tennis ball

             = Rs 144 - Rs 70

             = Rs 74

Hence, Their is net loss on selling both balls and it is Rs 74  Answer
