Aditya is the head of the local baseball
league. He plans to divide the bats and
balls equally among as many teams as he
can. There are 16 bats and 40 balls. What
is the greatest number of teams he can
divide them among? Use a diagram or a
table to help you determine the answer.

Both 16 and 40 have LCF (Least Common Factor) as four, meaning that is the smallest factor they are both divisible by.

16/40 = 4/10

From here, Aditya knows he can make four teams (we divided by four) with each teams possessing four bats and 10 balls. The LCF here is 2.

4/10 = 2/5

Aditya can form 8 teams each having 2 bats and 5 balls.

Check: 8 teams *2 bats= total 16 bats
8 teams *5 balls= total 40 balls

You’re welcome
