adjective and adverb Form of Prosper
Answers
Prosperous is based on the verb prosper, which means to be successful. You can say that someone is prospering in the present, but the word is perhaps most commonly used in the context of what will happen in the future. The word prospering can be used as an adjective to mean the same thing as prosperous.
AC power is generated as a sine wave, and a full cycle is 360 degrees (think polar coordinates). In standard 3-phase power, there are three power cables (lets call them A, B & C). The A-B pair connects to a set of windings in the power source (an alternator). The alternator has (simplified) three sets of windings (A-B, B-C & C-A) equally spaced around the rotor. They follow each other, around and around as the rotor turns. Since they are equally spaced around the rotor, and there are three of them, they are always trailing each other by 1/3 of a full 360 degree circle, or 120 degrees. As the rotors swing through the magnetic field, a current is induced in each winding, and this current is also 120 degrees apart for each winding.
