Akbar was the centre of all powers—civil, judicial, military and religious. He was the Supreme Commander of the army. He established a centralized administration. All appointments, promotions or dismissals depended on his decision and orders.

Important features of Akbar’s administration are given below:

Akbar’s ideal of Kingship. According to him, “Upon the conduct of a monarch depends the efficiency of any course of action. His gratitude to God should be shown in just government and due recognition of merit.”

Explanation:

Akbar was the 3rd Mughal empire next to Babur and Humayun. He was the ruler of India from AD1556 to 1605. He was the heir of Timur Lang from maternal side and Chengiz Khan from paternal side.

1. Army:- Also known as Faujdari Akbar maintained a large standing army that he inherited from his father through an inhertance process of coparcenary. He was under the regent Bairam Khan till 1563. He had conquered several rajput states and Gondwanaland.

2. Economy:- There were several mansabdars and jagirdars who were tax collectors and played an important role in the right of Akbar.

3. Politics:- Akbar maintained a policy of defeat and respect. He never humiliated the defeated states for which he gained large support. He maintained the Navaratna or the nine gems including Birbal, Todar Mal, etc.

Thus Akbar.He was also a secular, tolerant leader who gave priority to all the religions.

Thus the reign of Akbar was a golden age for the Mughal dynasty when they reached the zenith of their success.He also contributed to the cultural heritage of the country.
