Distance is the total length covered by an object whereas displacement is the total length covered an object in the form of a straight line which can also be said as the shortest distance possible between two points.
If you start walking and stop at the same place from where you had started walking, you have covered a distance.
But,For the same situation, the displacement will be 0 as displacement is the distance in a straight line between the initial position and the final position.
But,in this case, the initial and the final position are same,so you cannot draw a straight line between them.
Therefore,the displacement will be 0.
Hope this helps ;)
