Monsoons are an Earthly phenomenon that are typical to tropical regions around the Equator. Monsoons in SouthEast Asia arrive in the month of June and prevail upto September.  The arrival of heavy and dark clouds from South West direction from the Seas on to the land is called the Advancing of the monsoon.  This happens generally in June. After the arrival the temperatures drop down and the humidity increases in air.

Most of the precipitation in the clouds is over in the month of September. The air becomes dry. The pressure changes. The temperatures rise.  Then very little rains are observed in various regions. Near the coastal regions there are still some good rains. But inside the central lands, the temperatures rise and rainfalls decrease.  This is called the Retreat of the Monsoon. In India this happens in October and November.
