1.Advantages: suppose you went in a foreign country, you will notice that almost all are talking in English language only, and you can also talk and understand what they are telling to you.
2.Disadvantages:Suppose if you know English very well or almost everything, but the problem is your surrounding don't know English then it becomes little hard for you to utilize your knowledge and unfortunately you have to leave that place and go to somewhere else where there is a respect for your English and you can utilize it.
