Mosley’s table is the standard periodic table that we now use and has a number of advantages over the original Mendeleev table. Mendeleev idea was to arrange by atomic mass and Mosley’s by atom number. Ordering by mass creates some problems, for example Iodine has a lower atomic mass than Tellurium and should come before Te…however, in order to arrange the columns by chemical similarity, I must be occur under Br, and hence after Te. The Mosley table (originally developed in 1913) correct anomalies like this, even though Mosley didn’t know why and came up with the arrangement we use today.
