pre Industrial Revolution, there were huge differences between rich and poor. However, the poor were not often noticed by the rich because the poor were out on the farm working hard all day. And that is, as most people knew, the ‘way of the world.’ With the Industrial Revolution, the poor headed to the city,to work in Textile mills, and therefore were more noticeable to the Rich. At the same time, a middle class grew in number and power and education. It was out of the latter that concern and political action took place, to help the ‘poor.’ This class was new and very optimistic that human action could overcome the dirt of ages. Cleaning up the rivers made a massive difference to everyone’s lives, as to cheaper cotton making multiple outfits available to ‘the poor.’ The DISADVANTAGES of the Industrial Revolution was the new problems of filth in cities, too rapid changes among whole bunches of people, with social and economic and political change roaring along like the new railways!
