Monsoon season or rainy season is gift of God to mankind, plants, animals and all the other living beings on the Earth. Without rain, we will not be able to survive. Rainy season has some merits as well as some demerits, which are as follows.

advantages :-
2) Rain water infiltrates in to the ground and hence the ground water table rises that is very useful for irrigation purposes.
1) Rain is very helpful in keeping the dew balance in the atmosphere which balances the temperature on our Earth.
3) Around 90 % of the world's drinking water supply depends on the rain water.
4) In country like India, monsoon season has its own importance because crops, animals and the whole population is completely dependent on rain water.

disadvantages :-
1) Rain water creates flood situation everywhere and hence that kills thousands of people and animals. Also the flood damages the crops and other plants.
2) Excess rainfall forces migration of the people living in the area closer to the river catchment.
3) Also rain water causes excessive load on our drainage system.
4) Excessive rain or flood situation causes many water borne diseases, which ultimately causes death of many people.

  1. Rain contributes substantially to vegetation and also caters to the agricultural needs. And we also know that most of the third world farmers rely solely on rain water for irrigation.
  2. As the water sources regularly get replenished because of rainwater we have an ongoing access to clean water.
  3. We also know that because of water cycle the water all around the world gets recycled and gets redistributed all across the world.
  4. It plays a vital role when it comes to settling down the dust and impurities over planes.

The disadvantages of rain are listed below-

  1. If the water is excessively acidic due to air pollution it might be really toxic for flora and fauna around it.
  2. When it rains really heavily there are mainly chances of flooding, lightning and storm.
  3. Because the weather is always all gloomy and cloudy it might lead to depression in people as they might have negative thoughts.
  4. It triggers erosion.
