Hey,
According to me the current reservation system is definitely bad for India. You can not uplift someone at the cost of others. What is happening in India is now is that the general category is feeling pinch of this reservation system. Reservation was meant to provide for those who lag behind in several fields. Now there are so many peoples who belong to the reserved category but are very rich and influential. Then why reservation to them? On, the other hand there are many families which belong to open categories but are very poor and don't have any means to provide improve their standards of living. There is no reservation to these people. Basically what I am trying to say is that reservation should be there but on the basis of income level, not on the traditional caste basis. I guess if this happens no one will have problem with reservation.
