If there will be social harmony in cities, then automatically the physical, mental and social conditions of an individual will be well , as a result person becomes healthier.

The main objective of this compilation is
to find out the presence of social and communal harmony in the Indian society by way of collecting data on such published examples;
to ensure their wide publicity in a concentrated form in order to create an atmosphere of peace and social harmony; and
to recommend and suggest measures for maintaining and improving social harmony in society.
India is a society of more than a billion people having different ethnic origins and divided into a number of castes and communities. There are at least eight major religions, 22 scheduled languages and over 600 political parties in India. During sixty seven years, since independence, India has suffered several spasms of violence and conflicts on account of fundamentalism and communalism caused by various contributory factors. However, due to strong civilizational roots and its democratic system, she has overcome and survived all tribulations.
In Indian Constitution, secularism has a strong support for peace. These provisions have been added to the Constitution by the 42nd amendment. It is essential that the youth of today should follow secular ideals in their daily life. They have to rise above controversies in elections and other social matters. Secularism is not related only to conflicts among Hindu, Muslim and other communities but has a bearing on democracy because the primary purpose of a government is to maintain order in the society.
