tidal energy needs to build a dam om the mouth of the river..therefore it is costly to establish a tidal energy power plant
some parts of dam like sluice gate and rotator are exposed to salty water so they need to be replaces at regular intervals therefore it is costly to maintain
it does not produce enough electricity to fulfill our daily requirement
it can only produce electricity at the time of hight tide.. therefore we cannot produce electricity from it when the sea level is normal
