Advantage of frequency modulation

(1) In FM recovered voice depend on frequency and not amplitude. Hence the effect of noise are minimised in FM.

(2) FM bandwidth covers all the frequency range which human can hear. Hence FM radio is better quality of sound in comparison with AM radio.

Disadvantage of frequency modulation

(1) At higher frequency FM modulated signals pass through the ionosphere and do not get reflected. Hence FM has lesser coverage compare to AM signal.
