advantages and disadvantages of command line interface

This is just my opionion.

Disadvantages:

Steeper learning curve (mostly, although there are UI with even steeper curves)Worse overviewConventions not as well known as UI conventionsSometimes cryptic parametersBad for certain tasks that involve selecting or graphical tasks

Advantages:

Usually more powerful than UI toolsEasy to stand on the shoulders of giants (aliases, piping, …)You get to know and handle the tool betterYou won’t be stumped, if your UI does not support what you need.
