ETHANOL:

Used in manufacturing of paints,varnishes,perfumes,etc. It is also used as a solvent.

It is used in medicines such as tincture iodine, cough syrups.

ETHANOIC ACID:

Dilute ethanoic acid is used as a food preservative.

It is also used for making cellulose acetate which is an important artificial fibre.

It is also used in the preparation of dyes.
