Advantages:
It is rigidly defined.
It is based upon all the observations.
It is suitable for further mathematical treatment.
It is not affected much by fluctuations of samplings.
It gives comparatively more weight to small items.
Disadvantages:
Because of its abstract mathematical character, geometric mean is not easy to understand and to calculate for non-mathematics person.
If any one of the observations is negative, geometric mean becomes imaginary regardless of the magnitude of the other items.

Advantages and disadvantages of geometric mean is given below.
Step-by-step explanation:
First we know,
Geometric series is the series whose next no. is is the multiplication of previous no. and a constant no. which is same for every no.
Geometric mean is the square root of the of the product of two censecutive nos.
Advantages:
- Geometric mean is a highly precise mathematical tool which is used various mathematical analysis like in statistics.
- It is used to to know the rate of increase of a sequence in an observations done for anything informational.
Disadvantages:
- It is too much time consuming if it does for higher mathematical analysis, where calculation becomes too much difficult.
- It is only used in Geometric progression series. It can not be used in arithmetic series and harmonic series.
