Advantages and disadvantages of grafting
Answers
Answer:
Explanation:
Dis-Advantages of Grafting :
Time-Consuming: Once the graft is completed, monitoring its progress and health can also take considerable time and labor. Limitations: Successful grafting is often limited to plants that are related because they must share similar characteristics, such as color, fruit and growth habit
advantages of grafting
Despite being labor intensive, grafting is commonly undertaken as a means of vegetative propagation of woody plants for any or all of the following reasons: (1) to impart disease resistance or hardiness, contributed by the root stock; (2) to shorten the time taken to first production of flowers or fruits by the scion, in some cases by many years; (3) to dwarf the scion, making both its height and shape more convenient for harvesting fruit, as with apples; (4) to allow scion cultivars to retain their desirable leaf, floral, or fruit characters, without the risk of these being lost through sexual reproduction; and (5) to provide the most economic use of scion material, in cases where there is some difficulty with stem cuttings producing roots.
hi friend,
Grafting is the technique to grow plants in order to transfer tissues from one plant to another. Usually it is a fast process. The upper part of the final plant is called scion and the root part is called stock.

disadvantages:-
1.grafting is very complex process of vegetative propagation .one has the skill and knowledge about like how to successfully graft a plant.
2.In order to graft a scion over a stock we have to find a scion which will fit into the stock or at least in the shape in which they fit together .so to do so we have to do a great work.
3.there is not 100% success if we do this process of reproduction. Like if we do this type of vegetative propagation .it is possible that one plant scion cant compatible with another plant stock.
4.grafting can only be done when plant is dormant like in late winter to early spring. And usually we graft in same genus .so that is not sure we can do grafting in any plant.

Advantages:-
1.one plant can attain another plants characteristics. Like diseases resistance and hardness.
2.when we practice grafting in order to natural reproduction. We get results very fast i.e. grafting is a fast process of reproduction.
3.we can choose like what height we want i.e. we can get short apple tress if we practice grafting.
4.like we got output of stem as scion that would be cut out or not in use.
