hy friend hope it helps uh.

guided: longer distances (in 10s or 100s of kilometers)
unguided: world-record distance is only about 10-20 km (my company did 11 km)

guided: fiber optics are necessary
unguided: no fiber necessary

guided: end points are defined and fixed
unguided: end points are mobile

guided: no search and tracking is necessary
unguided: searching and tracking mechanisms increase complexity
