advantages and disadvantages of law of octaves

Newlands law of octaves had the following advantages:-

1) It classified the elements on the basis of increasing order of their atomic mass

Disadvantages:-

1)The chemical properties were similar only up to Calcium
2)Not all elements were known till that time and he didn't explained where to put new elements

ADVANTAGES:))
1. this law provided basis for a classification of elements into groups of elements having similar properties.
2. This Law provided a wider scope to arrange all known elements into a tabular form.

3. newlands law of octaves was the first logically basis on the weight.

NOW DISADVANTAGES:))
1. it was not valid for elements that have atomic masses higher than calcium.

2. when more elements were discovered such as element from the noble gases such as Helium,neon and argon they could not be accommodated in this table.

3 placing of iron far away from Cobalt and Nickel which have similar properties as iron could also not be explained.
