Advantages of median:

i)It is very simple to understand and easy to calculate.

ii)It is grouped frequency distribution it can be graphically located by drawing ogives.

Disadvantages of median:

i)It is a less representative average because it does not depend on all the items in the series.

ii)It is affected more by sampling fluctuations than the mean as it is concerned with only one item i.e the middle item.
