There various advantages and disadvantages of pulse amplitude.
Advantages:
Through pulse amplitude modulation data transformation is done efficiently.
It is the quick way of data transfer
It is the simplest form on base of which all digital or modern modulation techniques work
Disadvantage:
Amplitude variation occur in this as the result of which the receiver's peek power varies with it.
In the transmission of pulse amplitude modulation signals very large bandwidth are required.
Hope this helps.

Advantages
# The transmitter and receiver used for pulse amplitude modulation feature a very simple design.
# It helps in the easy transfer of data with power amplitudes. No signal processing is needed if the PAM signals are transmitted over a couple of wires directly.
# It can be used to generate other pulse modulations as well.
Disadvantages
# The amplitude tends to keep changing, which in turn leads to high noise interference that cannot be eliminated very easily.
# The bandwidth for transmitting the pulse amplitude modulation is very large.
# The power efficiency is very less when compared to pulse width and pulse position modulations.
