Advantages and disadvantages of scan conversion in computer graphics

In scan conversion is a video processing technique in which a scan converter is used to change the vertical or horizontal scan frequency of video signal for different purposes and applications.

Advantages

1. It can be used for many different aspects of picture processing, video projectors, TV, cinema equipment, video capture cards, LCD monitors, standard and HDTV televisions, and radar displays.

2. It can be made easily using some high speed integrated circuits as a circuit board.

Disadvantages

1. The process can be applied using only integrated circuits in LSI and VLSI scales.

2. In digital conversion method first the analog video signal has to be converted to digital data.

There are various advantages as well as the disadvantages of the scan conversion
Advantage: The designation of it is and can be made very easily by the use integrated circuits
It act like a bridge between the computer graphics and Television.
It is used in wide range of things like equipment in cinema  and also used in some of the video projectors  and even in radar systems

While on the other hand the major disadvantage includes it's use restricted to only the integrated circuits .Also the digital data conversion is necessary in digital system.
