Advantages:

Learning and growing, from consistently being outside of your comfort zone and being exposed to new experiences and people.Undermining stereotypes, and learning about how the world actually is, not just what the media or your friends think.Memories and stories, which you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life, long after the trendy shoes you bought go out of style.Human connection, feeling a more intimate link to humanity and the world, and a better understanding of where you fit in all of it.Gratitude, once you see how good you really have it compared to a lot of other people.

Disadvantages:

Spending money, because even if you travel on a budget, you still have to spend something.Not making money, since you’re likely not working while you’re traveling (unless you’re a remote worker).Anger and sadness, from seeing how unfair life is to others. You’re lucky enough to travel while other people are struggling just to survive. Ignorance is bliss.Feelings of displacement and isolation, from not being around family and friends all the time, and realizing that their lives go on with or without you in there.Addiction to new experiences, which a lot of people develop after some experience traveling, and it makes it harder for them to be content with an ordinary lifestyle.
