The White Revolution in India was the development in the dairy production of India in the 1860s. It was also known as the operation flood.
Advantages of the Revolution:

Disadvantages of the Revolution:

(i) Import of foreign breeds, lack in the use of local breeds.
(ii) Import of the foreign feed which cannot be produced in India.
(iii) Ignorance of the research and development of the agricultural sector of the country.
(iv) Development of a private limited company.
White Revolution
Advantages of white revolution:
• The process of importing milk solids from different countries was stopped.
• Due to the high production of milk, India became one of the most notable exporters of milk and dairy products in the World market.
• More employment was created in the field of agriculture as well as dairy farming.
• All types of milk and dairy products need were fulfilled with the stocks available locally.
• Due to cross breeding, the “milk yielding capacity” of the animal is increased.
Disadvantage of white revolution:
• The importing of milk was stopped, the entry of new fascinating dairy product lead to low demand for Indian based products.
• As the livestock are prone to many types of disease, the milk is obtained from them during such condition of cattle or goat leads to contagious disease spreading.
• Adulteration of “milk and dairy products” was one of the major disadvantages of white revolution.
