Advantages of bacteria:
Major role of bacteria is as decomposers: They decompose all biological materials, waste materials, and keep the environment clean.
They do provide us immunity by colonizing the internal part of animal bodies, forming normal flora of the body.
They are important in ecosystem as are part of various nutrient cycles.
They also help plants by fixing nitrogen , and releasing minerals in soil, increasing its fertility.
Disadvantages of bacteria
Bacteria due to decomposition can produce foul smell, undesirable products.
They produce green house gases that are causing pollution, and global warming.
Many bacterias are pathogens and produce various dreadful diseases like typhoid, cholera, diarrhoea, anthrax, pneumonia, etc.

advantages
The advantages of bacteria for genetic Engineering are firstly economic- they contain a valuable source of enyzmes Bacteria produce more enzyme molecules in relation to their mass than most other organisms. The product yield can be increased by means of strain selection, mutation and optimisation of growth conditions
disadvantages
Bacteria can form parasites with other organisms, they are known as pathogens.
Majority of human deaths and diseases are caused by infections like tetanus, typhoid, syphilis, diphtheria, cholera, leprosy and tuberculosis.
Bacteria also cause diseases in plants and lead to crop destruction, with diseases like leaf spot, fire blight and wilts.
Diseases are also caused by bacteria in farm animals like salmonella, anthrax and mastitis.
Some bacteria like the staphylococcus or streptococcus cause skin infection, pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis, inflammation producing shock, vasodilatation and death.
Bacteria cause infection to skin and other organs.
Sometimes infections caused by bacteria can cause death.
Bacteria cause food spoilage, consumption of contaminated food can lead to food poisoning.
