Advantages of electronics and telecommunication branch for society
Answers
The applications of electronics and telecommunications (or)
The future prospects of EXTC engineers in india
I will definitely try to answer both :)
By application point of view EXTC branch has wide variety of things to offer from signals and systems to analog and also digital electronics. It totally depends on which sub branch you are talking about.
In railways, signals and systems as well as communications concepts are used widely. Also your digital camera uses digital signal processors to capture and store high quality images. Signals and systems is like the basic core mathematical part of electronics. You can relate this sub branch to almost every sub branches in EXTC.
Micro-processors and micro-controllers are used almost in every electronic devices ranging from your mobile-phone to personal computers. Its just astounding what a little chip could do, right ?
Radars and Radio-microwave engineering is like the basic communication technology our current world works on. They are used everywhere, literally everywhere, where long distance communication is wireless.
Did you know the Air conditioner you use on a daily basis is an example of closed loop control system. So yes, control systems is also a basis of many industrial advancements you see today.
Almost every aviation technology requires advanced electronic systems to control and monitor.
Most of the devices you use today (washing machine, AC, TV, laptops) which are either wireless or using wire or buttons, most probably depends on analog and digital electronics and wouldn’t work otherwise.
These are some basic applications which came to my mind quick after seeing this question. I am sure you could find thousand more applications on the internet.
Now coming to the second part,
What are the future aspects of EXTC engineers ?
Railways hire many EXTC engineers every 2–3 years for various tasks ranging from technicians to ALP (Assistant Loco Pilots) to S&T sectors.
Electronic companies like GODREJ, SAMSUNG etc also hire many EXTC engineers.
You could also join ISRO or BARC and become a respected scientific officer in this field.
But the sad part is, The education system and rote-learning in India has lead to decline in the value of engineers due to lack of practical knowledge. Every year lakhs of engineers graduate but only 10–15% are lucky enough to grab a job in good companies.
The un-availabilty of a good-teaching-system and just clearing the exams for the sake of passing has lead to zero innovative minds whose only aim is to gain bookish knowledge.
