because:
1 - it's like comparing apples and oranges: apart from the fact they're both called 'transistors', they are very different devices, different technologies, different operating modes and used in quite different applications. They are not compatible/interchangeable/comparable... As a matter of fact MOS/FET transistors have more in common with vacuum tubes!
2. 'Higher gain'?! What gain? What do you mean by that? They have different voltage gains, current gains or power gains, depending not only on the device itself, but also on the specific circuit...
Oversimplifying, the BJT has a parameter called 'beta', which is defined as the DC current gain. On the other hand, a MOS/FET has a specific parameter named 'transconductance' which can be seen as a gain. You can not compare these!
