Advantages of saturated calomel electrode

Saturated calomel electrode in more advantagious because;

- Calomel electrode has the ease of oxidation and reduction reactions.

- Again a calomel electrode is a practical electrode than a Standard Hydrogen Electrode (SHE).

We know that the Standard Hydrogen Electrode has a defined potential of 0.00Volts and this is accepted internationally and hence makes calculations easy but it is not practical when ou are dealing with it.

And hence being that the calomel electrode is very practical is therefore the most commonly used electrodes in corrosion studies among other reactions

- Calomel electrode is also relatively of low cost.
