Both Primary and Secondary Cells have their own advantages. Primary batteries are single use batteries which are cheap, have a lower self discharge rate. They are generally used in applications where the discharging rate is very low.The applications of such cells can be seen in Watches, Smoke detectors etc.
Secondary batteries are rechargeable batteries , which have recharge circuit installed . They can retain charge for a longer time. They cost more than primary cells, due to the material and technology used.
