Adventures of Toto is a funny recollection of a memory by the author. This story occurs due to grandfather's love for all kinds of animals. Toto is a pretty red monkey with a smile that terrifies the Anglo-Indian ladies.
After Toto destroys the author's cupboard and his blazer, the monkey is transferred to the mini zoo of the grandfather. However Toto makes a nuisance of himself and disturbs the other animals. Thus he is shifted to the stable outside with the donkey Nana as a companion. Toto still ends up in trouble as he refuses to get along with the donkey.
One day grandfather has to go to Sahranpur to collect his pension. He decides to take Toto along with him as he was still a secret from grandmother. To travel with grandfather, Toto is given a canvas bag to stay in. At the turnstile however, Toto suddenly pops out of the bag giving the ticket collector a fright. Grandfather ends up having to give a fine for carrying a 'dog'.
One day Toto ends up being half-boiled alive. However grandmother was just in time to save him.
One day when the family was holding a feast, grandmother had made a delicious dish of pulao. However Toto gets his hands on the dish and he eats the whole plate. When the family tries to stop him from eating the whole dish, they end up having dishes and glasses thrown at them.
Fed up of the constant destruction around the house, grandfather finally sells Toto back to the Tonga driver.
