Sanitation of the district

District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) constituted at the district level function under the supervision, control and guidance of Zilla Panchayat/ Parishad.

The District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) has the following responsibilities:

  • Project creation, management, and progress monitoring in rural regions for drinking water security and overall sanitation.
  • Examining and approving the Block Panchayat/ Gram Panchayat schemes before presenting them to the SLSSC.
  • Choose agencies and/or non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and enter into agreements for social mobilisation, capacity building, and communication management and monitoring of projects
  • Educating public officials, representatives, and the general public.
  • Enlisting the help of institutions to provide training and communication to all stakeholders in order to build their capacity campaign.
  • Coordination of water and sanitation issues among district officials from Health, Education, Forests, and Environment.
