Why does aerobic respiration yield so much more ATP molecules per glucose molecules than fermentation?

In aerobic respiration glucose molecules undergoes glycolysis,krebs cycle and electron transport chain .in each step it release some ATP .the net ATP is 36.in fermentation glucose undergoes only glycolysis where it release only one ATP
