Aesop's fables are short stories featuring animals and generally ending with a moral. Indian literature has similar stories called the Panchtantra. Written by Vishnu Sharma, these interrelated animal fables have spread all over the globe. Why do you think that these storytellers from ancient times used animals as their main characters? Do you think you would prefer these stories if they were depicted by human characters? Explain your choice with appropriate reasons.

Answer:

The Panchatantra is a collection of folktales and fables that were believed to have been originally written in Sanskrit by the great Hindu Scholar Pandit Vishnu Sharma more than 2500 years ago. It offers insight into human behaviour though the characters are entirely from the animal kingdom. The exact period of the composition of the Panchatantra is uncertain and vary from 1200 BCE to 300 CE. Some scholars place him in the 3rd Century BCE
