Aesthetics is applicable to anything in life. However, when usability or practicality is at odds with aesthetics, then it becomes just an option.
Usability is the ultimate objective of anything – be it a machine, an inert structure, fashion etc. When aesthetics is combined with these, it adds to the visual appeal. If at any stage, it is found that adding aesthetics hampers its practicality, then aesthetics can be sacrificed for usability.
